Rules

Statutory basis for ships is comprehensive and is administered for danish ships by Danish Maritime Authority, based on national and international agreements.

Existing rules on a ship is, in addition to type and use, based on the ships construction date.

For new buildings obviously the latest rule are used, whereas for purchased ships it can be extremely difficult to define a rule base. As a general rule, the rules on the time of keel laying which, together with any subsequent rules covering existing ships, is the basis of examination and approval.

However, experience has shown that from the authority side at times ( especially by older purchased ship ) requiring only applicable for new ships.

With thorough knowledge of applicable rules it is possible with dialogue to define the correct basis for a given ship.
